BATT-MAX is Kar-Life Battery's own brand — the label you'll see on many of the batteries we sell at our Phoenix and Mesa stores. Some BATT-MAX batteries are brand new. Others are BATT-MAX Repeat Performance, our tested and warrantied refurbished line. This page explains the difference so you always know exactly what you're buying.
What the BATT-MAX Label Actually Means
The single most important thing to know: the BATT-MAX name by itself does not tell you whether a battery is new or refurbished. Look for the 'Repeat Performance' designation.

The BATT-MAX name is our house brand. When you see BATT-MAX on a battery at our store, it simply means Kar-Life Battery sourced, tested, and stands behind it — not that the battery is used or reconditioned.

A BATT-MAX Repeat Performance battery is specifically our refurbishedline — a quality used core that we've load-tested, reconditioned, and restored to reliable working condition, then backed with a warranty.

The short version: every Repeat Performance battery is a BATT-MAX, but not every BATT-MAX is a Repeat Performance.
Why We Make BATT-MAX Repeat Performance
Good batteries don't have to be expensive, and good cores shouldn't end up in a landfill.
A lot of the batteries that get scrapped every year still have life left in them. Instead of sending those cores straight to a recycler, we select the ones that pass our initial inspection, recondition them in-house, and put them through the same load-testing we use on new batteries. Only the ones that pass become a BATT-MAX Repeat Performance.
That lets us offer three things at once:
- A lower pricefor drivers who don't need — or don't want to pay for — a brand-new battery.
- A warranty you can count on. Every Repeat Performance battery comes with a 6-month replacement warranty. If it fails, we replace it free.
- A better outcome for Arizona. Keeping usable cores on the road means fewer hazardous batteries moving through the waste stream.
Repeat Performance batteries are also eligible for same-day DoorDash delivery anywhere in the Phoenix metro area, just like our new stock.
How to Tell Which One You're Getting
You should never have to guess — and with us, you won't.
In-store:our Phoenix and Mesa staff will always tell you up front whether a battery is new or a Repeat Performance (refurbished) unit, and the sticker on the battery makes it clear. Ask as many questions as you like — we'd rather take an extra minute than send you out with the wrong battery.
Online: every product listing on our site indicates whether the battery is new or refurbished, along with the warranty that applies to it.
Either way:whether it's a brand-new BATT-MAX or a BATT-MAX Repeat Performance, it's been tested by us and it carries a warranty. That's the whole point of putting our name on it.

Is every BATT-MAX battery refurbished?
No. BATT-MAX is Kar-Life Battery's house brand and covers both brand-new and refurbished batteries. A battery is only refurbished if it specifically carries the 'BATT-MAX Repeat Performance' designation. Seeing the BATT-MAX name on the label alone does not mean the battery is used or refurbished.
What does 'BATT-MAX Repeat Performance' mean?
BATT-MAX Repeat Performance is our refurbished battery line. Each one is a quality core that has been load-tested, reconditioned, and restored to reliable working condition before it ever leaves our shop. Every Repeat Performance battery is backed by a 6-month warranty — if it fails within that window, we replace it.
Do BATT-MAX batteries come with a warranty?
Yes. BATT-MAX Repeat Performance (refurbished) batteries carry a 6-month warranty. Our new BATT-MAX batteries carry a 6- to 12-month warranty depending on the tier — for example, standard new car batteries come with a 6-month warranty, and premium (EFB) batteries come with a 12-month warranty.
Why choose a BATT-MAX Repeat Performance battery over a brand-new one?
Refurbished BATT-MAX batteries cost significantly less than new ones — great for older vehicles, second cars, and budget-conscious drivers. They're also the more environmentally responsible choice, since a good core stays on the road instead of going to a recycler. Every Repeat Performance unit is tested to deliver 450+ Cold Cranking Amps, enough to reliably start most vehicles.
How do I know if a battery I'm buying is new or Repeat Performance?
It's always labeled clearly. In-store, our staff will tell you which one you're buying and show you the sticker. On our website, product listings indicate whether a battery is new or refurbished. If you're ever unsure, just ask — we'll never sell you a refurbished battery thinking it's new.
